About Max
I was born in Bath, studied at the City of Bath College, Brighton Uni for my BA then the RCA for my MA and I currently live and work in Glasgow. My interest in art started as a fascination with materials first and foremost. Learning how to mix paints, apply colour and texture to surfaces and ultimately create arresting images. I value the tutorials I had at university, often completely changing the direction of my artwork. I want to be able to encourage and help other artists achieve their best pieces.

I have around 16 years' experience of making paintings and drawings, and I've exhibited work both nationally and internationally so my lessons can cover a wide range of concerns. I offer technical help to do with painting; how to use various mediums, stretching and priming canvases, colour theory, etc. If you're stuck with the conceptual and theoretical side of your practice I'm also able to work through these issues with you too, bringing in my own personal experience as well as my knowledge of contemporary discourse, art history and theory. Show me what you're working on and what you're having trouble with and I'll tailor my lessons to suit you.
