About Robert
I'm a ceramic artist and curator who has worked in clay since age 14. My practice spans sculpture, installation, and mixed media, and for nearly two decades I've also worked on the other side of the wall — installing and fabricating exhibitions for artists including Anish Kapoor, Keith Haring, Dennis Oppenheim, Mariko Mori, and Bernar Venet. That work taught me to think about a piece from the inside: how it's built, rigged, mounted, and made to hold a room.
In 2002, I founded 515 Arts, an independent gallery in Phoenix built to give space to work that didn't always fit the mainstream. I ran it for 17 years — curating group and solo shows, building a community, and learning what it actually takes to run a creative organization end-to-end.
