About Maygie

Maygie Li is a San Francisco–based artist and educator with a B.A. in Fine Arts from California College of the Arts. Her work spans painting, mixed media, and digital collage, exploring themes of identity, accessibility, and storytelling. With experience in studios, galleries, and inclusive art programs such as Creativity Explored, Maygie is passionate about creating spaces where creativity and confidence thrive. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes empathy, exploration, and self-expression, guiding students to discover their unique artistic voice while building technical skill and creative curiosity.

About the lesson

**Lesson Title:** Discovering Your Creative Voice **Objective:** Students will explore how art reflects personal identity and emotion, gaining a glimpse into how I teach creativity, confidence, and technique through self-expression. **Materials:** Paper, pencils, collage materials, paints, and any personal items (photos, textures, or colors) that inspire them. **Warm-Up (10 min):** Begin with a short discussion: “What does creativity mean to you?” Students share one object or image that represents who they are. **Activity (30 min):** Students create a mixed-media piece inspired by their chosen object or emotion. I’ll demonstrate layering techniques, composition tips, and how to build visual storytelling. **Reflection (10 min):** Each student shares their work. We discuss how different materials and choices express individuality. **Takeaway:** Students learn that art isn’t about perfection—it’s about process, emotion, and discovery. My lessons focus on helping each person build confidence, explore new techniques, and find their unique artistic language. **Why Me:** I bring real-world art experience from studios, galleries, and inclusive programs. My approach blends professional skill with empathy and structure, ensuring every student feels supported and creatively challenged.
