Artist, Ph.D student and Tutor in London and Hastings // Drawing / Painting

Ana has been giving 1-2-1 tuition to my daughter who was in need of more stimulation that she was getting at school. Ana has not only enhanced her skills in pairing and drawing but also given her lots of ideas to build on.

In a course totalling about 120 people, Ana was one of about 8 students to get a First. She has a broad range of skills that allow her to work across paint, drawing, sculpture, and is currently doing a Phd, which covers the academic aspect too.

Ana has been giving my twin girls art tutorials on a casual basis since September 2015, occasionally including one or other of their friends.
I have given her free rein to choose a variety of materials and themes which have always been a real success from the point of view of skills learned and of course fun being had.

They have done clay modelling and painting, Still life with Crayon, Oil and Chalk Pastel, Landscapes using gouache and other more glamorous and very appealing special effect paints and collage materials. Also some animal and portrait drawing and a little life drawing.
The lovely thing is that lessons are well researched and varied - sometimes preceded by a little slideshow on the topic so there is a shot of art history as a nice little freebie. I have to stress how much the children have enjoyed working with Ana - they really look forward to seeing her and the work they produce for her is so good they really feel encouraged and buoyed up by what they've achieved every time, she treats them very gently and so kindly it's always a big treat to have her here.

I worked with Ana Teles on a couple of projects at Chelsea College of Art, where we were studying for Master's Degrees in Fine Art.

I was on a part time course, and only joined the Chelsea course half way through my qualification.

Ana was part of a much larger full time course, but took the time & effort to involve herself with my group of new students, and offered to help in various collaborative projects and shows.

In a total group of about 120 students that year (2013) Ana was one of about 8 or 9 students to get a 'First' - which I think shows her levels of commitment & capacity. She knows her stuff & is a natural communicator about art, especially paint, drawing & the difficulties of narrative.
