About Garret
Tengo una Licenciatura en Ciencias del Ejercicio con un GPA de 3.82. Tengo la intención de comenzar un segundo bachillerato de educación dentro de un año.
Comencé a aprender español para una misión de servicio de tiempo completo para mi iglesia hace 7 años. Después de 2 años de inmersión, tomé clases de español durante mi bachillerato para recibir una asignatura secundaria en español. Durante mi último semestre en 2022, tomé mi primera clase de portugués y hoy dia soy competente.
Adquirir un nuevo idioma es difícil. Sé que requiere tiempo y paciencia, y estoy despuesto de ofrecer ambas cosas. He visto los beneficios de aprender nuevos idiomas. Por ejemplo, yo no habría sabido cuánto disfruto apoyar a los estudiantes del idioma inglés si no hubiera aprendido español. ¡Sé que habrá muchos beneficios para su niño y su familia también en el futuro! ¿Por qué no construir una relación de confianza y apoyo y divertirnos al mismo tiempo mientras aprendemos estos idiomas juntos?

I have a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science with a GPA of 3.82. I intend to begin a second Bachelors in Education within a year.
I began learning Spanish for a full-time service mission for my church 7 years ago. After 2 years of immersion, I took Spanish classes during my undergraduate to recieve a Minor in Spanish. During my last semester in 2022, I took my first Portuguese class, and am conversational today.
Acquiring a new language is difficult. I know it takes time and patience, both of which I am happy to offer. I've seen the benefits of learning new languages. For example, I wouldn't have known how much I enjoy supporting English Language Learners if I hadn't learned Spanish. I know there will be many benefits for your child and your family in the future too! Why not build a trusting and supportive relationship and have some fun while we learn these languages at the same time?

Hace 4 años, conocí a mi primer estudiante hablante de otro idioma (ELL). Rápidamente descubrí que no recibía ningún apoyo de la escuela, pero querían que estuviera en "100% inmersión". Aunque sea tan buena la inmersión, no intervenir en absoluto no es lo adecuado para estudiantes jóvenes en un país o idioma nuevo. Así comencé prestar mi servicio de apoyo en inglés como voluntario!
El siguiente año escolar encontré casi una docena más de ELLs en media docena de otras escuelas primarias, que también recibían poco hasta ningún apoyo. Hoy día trabajo en una sola escuela primaria con mas que 50 estudiantes en mi lista para visitar y trabajar con ellos, uno a uno en clase y en grupos pequeños!
Me especializo en fundamentos de inglés, y tambien ayudo con las tareas y con cualquier materia de primaria. Tengo algunos materiales propios específicamente para el alfabeto/fonética y lectura.
Creo que la comunicación y la transparencia con los padres es clave! ¡Disfruto mucho trabajar y hacer buenas conexiones con estudiantes del idioma ingles de primaria y demostrar mi confiabilidad!

4 years ago, I met my first English Language Learner (ELL). I quickly discovered that they were not receiving any support from the school, but wanted them in "100% immersion." As great as immersion is, being completely hands-off is not it for young students in a new country or language. I then began my service lending English support as a volunteer!
The next school year I found almost a dozen more ELLs in half a dozen other Elementary Schools, also receiving little to no support. Now I work in a single Elementary School with more than 50 ELLs on my list to visit and work with, one-on-one in class and in small groups!
I specialize in English foundation, homework help, and any elementary subject assistance. I do have a few of my own materials specifically for alphabet/phonetics and reading.
I believe that communication and transparency with parents is key! I thoroughly enjoy working with and making connections with elementary-age ELL students and proving my trustworthiness!

I'm cheaper than average because to me, experiences are more priceless. And I don't have too many of my own materials.
