About Michael
Who I am
I work in product strategy at a global asset manager in London, where I analyse markets and fund performance and present to senior leadership and boards. I've spent over three years in asset management.
How I got here
I started with no existing network: no contacts in the industry, no family in finance and nobody to show me how recruitment worked. I had to figure it out myself, often the hard way.
At university, I earned a First Class BSc in Economics & Finance, became President of the Economics & Finance Society, and co-founded a student investment research platform with over 30 contributors. Alongside my studies, I secured internships including Amazon, and converted two summer internships into full-time offers.
I then completed a Distinction MSc in Finance at a Russell Group university ranked in the world's top 100, passed CFA Level 1, and joined a Swiss asset manager before moving into my current role.
Why I mentor
I learned through trial and error which steps make a real difference and which waste time. I also know how it feels to be up against candidates with connections. My goal is to give you the clear, honest guidance I wish I'd had, so you can compete with anyone.

Breaking into finance is hard enough. Doing it without contacts in the industry is harder, and that's exactly how I did it. My mentoring gives you the practical, step-by-step guidance I wish I'd had.
Who it's for:
University students and recent graduates aiming for careers across both the buy side and the sell side, including asset management, investment banking, private equity, markets and research. I work with everyone from first-years starting to explore to final-years facing deadlines.
What I cover:
Building a plan: which roles suit you, and what to do each term to get there.
Spring weeks, internships and graduate schemes: where to apply, when, and how to prioritise so you're not sending hundreds of generic applications.
CVs and cover letters: rewriting yours so it stands out in finance screening.
Interviews and assessment centres: mock interviews, competency and motivational questions, and how to talk about markets with confidence.
Preparation materials: a detailed guide on exactly how to prepare for interviews and assessment centres, including recommended reading, market news sources, and the topics you're expected to know.
Networking from zero: how to reach people on LinkedIn, get replies, and turn conversations into opportunities.
Balancing it all: keeping your grades up while applying, running societies and building experience, without burning out.
How sessions work:
Lessons last one hour and take place online via webcam or in person in London. The first session starts with where you are now: your CV, your target roles and your deadlines. From there, we build a clear plan together. You'll leave every session with specific actions and a written summary, so you always know what to do next.
Packages:
Single session: £50/hour
Mock interview with written feedback: £80
CV rewrite plus a one-hour session: £120
Application season plan, 3 sessions over a term: £135

I would highly recommend Michael to anyone looking for practical and insightful career coaching. Having achieved highly competitive grades himself and gone on to build a career in asset management, he brings both strong academic credentials and real-world industry experience to his coaching.
What really sets Michael apart is his ability to give practical, actionable advice. He has a great understanding of what employers are looking for and knows how to help people position themselves effectively, whether that’s improving a CV, preparing for interviews, or figuring out how to get your foot in the door in a competitive industry.
He is approachable, supportive and takes the time to understand your goals, while also giving honest and constructive feedback. His advice is grounded in his own experience of navigating competitive recruitment processes, which makes it particularly valuable.
I would definitely recommend Michael to anyone looking to improve their CV, strengthen their applications, prepare for the recruitment process, or gain a clearer understanding of how to break into competitive careers.
Michael has provided exceptional guidance over the years regarding application strategy, CV writing, and interview preparation. He’s approachable and adapted to my needs very well.
Michael is an extremely knowledgable and honest person and someone I’ve talked to lots throughout my career. He's offered me great guidance in terms of my next steps and understanding where my skill set would be best placed.
His advice definitely helped me in landing my bulge bracket offer so cannot recommend him enough!I had a very valuable conversation with Michael regarding a career in asset management. He provided genuine insight into working at Schroders and the industry more broadly, along with practical, well-considered advice on interview preparation. His guidance was thoughtful, specific, and clearly informed by real experience. I would strongly recommend him to anyone seeking mentorship on entering this field.
Michael has a wealth of experience across multiple asset management firms in Europe, raising up the ranks very fast for such a young person. Therefore, his guidance is not only relevant to me as a young person starting out their career, but based on real experience and industry know how. He has been extremely helpful for me and my early career
Michael’s coaching and deep industry knowledge completely transformed my career. From technical interview prep to strategic networking, his mentorship helped me break into asset management and land a role at a private credit hedge fund—he’s the ultimate guide for taking your finance career to the next level.
I've worked directly and indirectly on a number of education related projects with Michael, and his method of teaching is great! He is always super clear and enthusiastic about the concepts he is teaching, and always provides great examples to every model and equation he uses. He is very well rounded around different topics of economics & finance. He especially amazes me with his knowledge and interest in microeconomics, where I believe he very much stands out to the rest of us. Great person and great teacher!
Michael had tutored me for over a year and had boosted my grade completely!
Michael would make sure you had completely understood the topic before moving to the next and does a lot of exam style questions in order to get the best results. He had helped me gain a lot of confidence with my work and helped me gain extra knowledge, from what the course already demonstrates and etc in order to get the best results. Without him I wouldn’t be doing an Economics degree now!Michael is a great tutor and went above and beyond to make sure I fully understood what we were covering before the session was over. He came fully prepared with my specification , which he had already read through and many other things I will mention in the next paragraph.
An example of a topic we covered was scarcity and choice. To cover this we first set out what I needed to know by going through my specification so I knew what I needed to understand by the end. Michael then explained the topic on a whiteboard in general terms making sure I understood throughout the content. He then applied the problem to real life scenarios before asking me to apply it to some to test my understanding. We then went over some verbal questions just to make sure I fully understood the basis of the topic. Michael then covered how I would structure and essay for this and gave me a few examples of his own before giving me a question to answer once I understood the essay technique. He finally emailed me some videos to watch so that I would freshen up on content when it came to revision.
I would definitely recommend Michael as a tutor as his teaching style allowed me to pick up topics rather quickly but also with very good understanding as given in the example.Michael helped me massively when he introduced me to my A level economics course. He broke down the specification into topics that were easily understandable and explained them to me using methods that kept me engaged. Michael also helped me a lot with essay writing and showing me how to structure and approach essays. Michael is the best tutor I have had as he makes it easy to understand topics and always checks that you understand each topic well.
Michael is an amazing tutor and has A* economic skills and knowledge. I have worked along side Michael for many years now and he’s always strived to achieve the best, which is what he continuously does with all his students. His organisational and communication skills allow students to flourish in his lessons and during exams. He previously tutored my cousin who was struggling a lot with economics, but with his help she finally reached her goals in the final exams and got an A*! He always pushes his students to reach their full potential and more, and anyone that has the opportunity to be tutored by Michael I’m 100% sure they will be impressed with the quality of learning they’ll receive. Overall, a fantastic tutor, if you want to achieve top grades I definitely recommend his services.
