About Sajad

Hello! My name is Sajad, and I am a handpan musician based in Connecticut.

I have been actively studying and playing the handpan since 2023 and have developed a deep appreciation for its unique combination of rhythm, melody, creativity, and mindfulness. What began as a personal passion has become an important part of my daily life and musical journey.

I enjoy helping others discover the instrument and build confidence in their playing. My approach is patient, encouraging, and focused on making learning enjoyable and accessible for everyone, regardless of previous musical experience.

During lessons, I guide students through technique, rhythm, timing, musical expression, and improvisation while helping them develop their own connection with the instrument. I believe that music should be both rewarding and inspiring, and I strive to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring and growing.

Professionally, I serve as a Faculty MRI Physicist at Yale University, where teaching, mentorship, and clear communication are important parts of my work. I bring the same structured, supportive, and thoughtful approach to my music instruction.

I welcome students of all backgrounds who are interested in learning the handpan, developing their musical skills, or simply experiencing the joy and relaxation that this beautiful instrument can offer.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed for beginners and early-intermediate handpan players who want to develop confidence, rhythm, creativity, and musical expression.

I believe the handpan is one of the most accessible instruments to learn, even for people with no previous musical experience. My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and tailored to each student's goals.

During lessons, we work on proper technique, rhythm, timing, melodies, improvisation, and developing a personal playing style. I also help students use the handpan as a tool for relaxation, mindfulness, and creative exploration.

A typical lesson includes warm-up exercises, rhythm practice, learning new patterns or melodies, and guided improvisation. Students receive practical exercises they can continue working on between lessons.

Whether you want to learn your first notes, improve your flow, or deepen your connection with the instrument, I aim to make every lesson enjoyable, inspiring, and rewarding.
