About Jeffrey

Hi, I'm Jeffrey! I've just recently graduated from Radford College (2020) and looking to commence university this year. During Year 11 & 12, I studied double Specialist Mathematics, Chemistry, ANU Extension Chemistry, Physics, and English, eventually graduating with a 99.85 ATAR.

My passion for learning and helping out others with academics is demonstrated by my initiative to help Year 7 students with their homework as a peer mentor and volunteering to assist Year 4/5 kids with their maths enrichment booklets. These experiences have enabled me to strengthen my communication and teaching skills and understand the impact a passionate teacher can have.

My tutoring philosophy is centred around the belief that the highest marks are attained by the students who can understand and apply the fundamental concepts (not just rote learning) and have strong critical thinking and problem solving skills. Given the fast pace at which content is learnt in high school and college, especially, alongside the difficulty of tests which cover material outside the scope textbooks provide, it is no surprise Physics can be overwhelming and challenging. Additionally, many mistakenly perceive critical thinking and problem solving skills to be only found in naturally gifted or intelligent students.
However, I personally believe that with a strong work ethic from both my students and I, these skills can grow and be strengthened (as I experienced myself throughout college) and any student can excel.

For all of my students, I will work endlessly to:
1. share my passion of learning and teaching, and
2. boost their performance (improve test marks, assignment results, grades) by teaching them the necessary concepts ( and assisting them with homework and assignments.

For high school students, the focus will be on consolidating Year 7-10 content and providing a strong fundamental understanding to prepare them for the rigours of college. I will also extend them to learn college coursework to give them an advantage over others heading into Year 11.

For college students, the aim will be to build upon this outstanding level of understanding in order to solve complex problems which require higher-order thinking. To reach a level of confidence where my students will be able to comfortably solve these difficult questions, I will step them through using examples to ensure their knowledge is rock-solid. As simplifying concepts and explanations is a key strength of mine, I trust that my students will be able to tackle problems they once thought they could not and see their marks improve drastically.

In your first lesson with me, I will make it a priority to get to know your learning style, discuss your goals, identify strengths and weaknesses, and develop a tailor-made plan which suits you best.

I am fully confident in my abilities to teach Physics having consistently ranked within the top 3 for this subject throughout college.
Having recently graduated, I have extensive first-hand knowledge and experience of the latest course material. Furthermore, across all subjects, I will provide in-depth course notes, high-quality resources (worksheets, PowerPoints, practice past examination papers, regular quizzes), phone and email support 7 days a week, and, most importantly, an enjoyable lesson catered to the student’s individual learning needs.
