About Vishmi

I have been tutoring two students for French for the last 2 years. Under my tutelage, their proficiency in the French language has improved drastically and they have vastly expanded their vocabulary and understanding of the language.

In terms of tutoring experience overall, I have been teaching 6 subjects for a total of 18 students over the last three years. These students have come from a range of skill levels and age groups. All these students have displayed a significant improvement in their results. Furthermore, I have helped my students to develop and improve a multitude of soft skills such as confidence, work ethic, and creativity. I am extremely proficient in helping students achieve their goals and in helping them develop a love for learning.

I am a UWA student studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences with direct entry into Medicine. I've been learning French for the past 6 years and was one of the top 10 students for French as a Second Language in 2019 WACE. Furthermore, I scored 100 for the WACE Oral Exam. I have also studied French in university.

About the lesson

My teaching method is personalized to each individual as I believe teaching should be tailored to everyone's unique needs.

A general approach (which can be highly tailored to suit your needs if need be) that I would use is the following:
- Determine the proficiency level of a student
- Focus on learning vocabulary relevant to topics that the individual needs to cover
- Focus on learning grammar relevant to topics that the individual needs to cover
- Apply this vocabulary in reading, writing and listening contexts
- Provide resources that will aid students that are relevant to the topics that they wish to cover (handouts, articles, books, links, sites etc.)
- Engage in one-on-one conversations with students, using the vocabulary and grammar that they know/have learnt
- Help with pronunciation issues

Since I just graduated (2019) high school, I'm extremely up to date about the current course structure for WACE students.

With younger students, I will communicate with their parents and provide them feedback about the student's progress. I will also reach out to parents if I have any particular concerns about the student's progress. I provide parents with semesterly reports on their student's progress which are very in-depth and extensive.
