About Patrick
Hi! I’m Patrick, and I graduated in 2020 from Melbourne Grammar.
Having completed VCE with a 99.90, I find that succeeding in it is a strategic endeavour as much as an academic one. Knowing how to tackle your subject, how to hone your skills and focus on areas of weakness going into SACs and exams is just as valuable as being bright, a good writer, or a good maths problem-solver. At the end of the day, your Study Scores and ATAR come down to what you can put down on paper over the course of perhaps 8 or 10 hours in total across the year.
Outside the classroom, I’m a keen debater among other things - at school, I won the DAV’s Asian Studies, British Parliamentary, and Schools competitions.

My approach to tutoring is all about maximising your performance in those 8 or 10 hours.
For Methods and Specialist, I have a treasure-trove of resources and a plan of study that will help you get ahead and spend the majority of your year solving problems and getting good at exam and SAC questions. I also have a groundbreaking set of programs for the CAS that will allow you to shave incredible amounts of time off any assessment, and through which I will coach you.
For French I use simple, learnable systems which allow you to inject complex grammar into your writing, leap seamlessly between sections of your oral and be highly rigorous and thorough in taking information from comprehension tasks.
For Literature, I use two key methods: teaching you to write in a coherent, yet complex way which flows and is pleasant for an examiner to read, and generating original and interesting ideas that you can bend to any question on exam day.

In general, I want to find arrangements that work for you. I find that the best arrangement is to have two in-person sessions to start off with, and then to go online from that point - tends to work best for both students and me.
