About Brian
Much of my experience has been in supporting radiation protection and health physics students in meeting national certification standards. I have spent almost 17 years in the radiation protection industry as a mentor and trainer in the field as well as the classroom. I am also an internationally certified Radiation Protection Technologist.
I believe students learn best when they feel supported, understood, and guided by someone who knows the material and genuinely cares about their success. With my experience teaching, mentoring, and coaching learners of all ages, I bring a calm, patient, and encouraging approach to every session. My academic background includes extensive college‑level coursework in algebra, trigonometry, pre‑calculus, calculus, physics, chemistry, and general science, giving me a strong foundation for helping students master challenging STEM concepts with clarity and confidence.
I take professionalism seriously — I show up prepared, communicate clearly, and tailor each lesson to the student’s needs and learning style. Whether a student is struggling, building foundational skills, or aiming to excel, I create a supportive environment where they can ask questions freely, grow steadily, and feel proud of their progress.

As a teacher, I strive to make the material attainable to all skill levels and work with students to scaffold the subject into relatable and palatable chunks that will encourage understanding as well as memorization. When approaching a lesson, I like to learn where students are before diving into new topics so that we can build on existing understanding as well as discover interests to make concepts relatable. From here, I like to work at the student's pace to drive the lessons forward so that they never feel left behind by the instruction. I like to ask and answer lots of questions along the way and create silly ways to remember difficult concepts that may be hard for students to retain using traditional memorization techniques. I love teaching math concepts at the high school and college level and have spent the last four years teaching adult learners in a vocational environment.
My academic background includes extensive college‑level math and science coursework completed through Western Governors University in the Secondary Physics Education program. While attending, I successfully completed College Algebra, and Trigonometry and Precalculus, along with Calculus I and II, giving me a strong foundation for tutoring algebra through early calculus.
In the sciences, I completed multiple physics courses including Physics: Mechanics, Conceptual Physics, and Physics: Waves and Optics. I also completed supporting coursework in Integrated Physical Sciences, Natural Science Lab, Chemistry with Lab, and Introduction to Biology. This combination of math, physics, and general science coursework equips me to tutor students in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre‑calculus, physics, and foundational science with clarity and confidence.

I know Brian because he’s my pastor and my good friend! He is known for being awesome at breaking down complex problems in order for someone to understand at their level! He is patient and encouraging when checking on the progress of any student who is willing to learn and ask him any questions. Many teachers often are there for the paycheck but Brian is there because of his heart for teaching. He is and will be the best and encouraging teacher there will be!
