About Tobias
Sound begins in the mind before fingers touch the ivory keys. I spent 13 years teaching students in Chicago to hear music before executing a single note. My approach emphasizes posture and hand position alongside rigorous sight reading and chord voicing.
Scales and arpeggios serve as the bedrock for hand independence. I integrate music theory with sight playing and memorization techniques to ensure technical fluency. Jazz improvisation and dynamics and expression round out my instruction. I see students become true musicians.

Custom sheet music arrangements for your favorite songs define how we navigate the repertoire. 8 different songs can be arranged specifically for your unique level of development.
I hold an MMus from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins. My 13 years of instruction provide a framework for disciplined study. The focus remains on inner hearing as a core technique.
