About John
I am an enthusiastic Saxophone tutor with 11 years of experience, and I have successfully taught around 150 students at various learning levels. I enjoy helping students achieve their musical goals through focused and personalised teaching.
My tutoring approach is goal-oriented and student-focused. At the beginning, I understand each student’s purpose for learning—whether it is a hobby, academic requirement, or performance goal. Based on this, I create a clear learning plan and track progress regularly.
Lessons include tone exercises, breathing techniques, scales, rhythm training, song learning, and musical expression. I also teach students how to plan their practice time effectively.
My unique strength is my personal attention to each student’s progress. I make sure students feel supported and guided at every stage. My aim is to help students grow steadily while enjoying their musical journey.

My teaching methodology for saxophone emphasises adaptability, positivity, and collaboration. I understand that every student learns differently, so I design lessons to suit individual learning styles and goals, whether through listening exercises, demonstration, or hands-on practice.
Flexibility allows me to modify lessons according to progress, motivation, and interests, keeping sessions inspiring, enjoyable, and productive. Collaboration is central: students are encouraged to contribute ideas, explore improvisation, and actively participate in their learning, fostering creativity and confidence.
I create a positive, encouraging environment where students feel motivated to practice, experiment, and express themselves musically. Lessons cover saxophone techniques, musical expression, improvisation, performance preparation, and theory to provide a well-rounded education.
In addition to saxophone, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and ensemble performance. My goal is to develop versatile, confident musicians with a lifelong love of music.
