About Audrey

I am 19 years old and currently majoring in Speculative Design at UCSD with plans to become a Social Media Manager. I enjoy communicating with people not solely vocally but through art and imagery as well. I have leadership experience from San Dieguito High School Academy as I was Varsity golf captain my senior year, and vice president of the Christian Student Athletes Club both junior and senior year. If my college goals do not go according to plan, I would like to pursue a career in elementary education because I find so much joy in working with kids.

About the lesson

I attended Capri Elementary in Encinitas, California. At age 4, I was fully immersed in Spanish culture and language through my school's DLI program. My experience began in 6th grade, where we worked one on one with Spanish-speaking buddies ages 4-6. I continued pursuing further practice in middle school, and even more so in high school. Not only did I receive a 5 on my AP exam I became a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. For my first two years of school, I worked at a local restaurant called Chicks Natural, where I communicated with kitchen staff and customers in Spanish, often acting as a translator. My junior year I tutored elementary students twice a week. I continue to practice by watching shows in Spanish, communicating with friends, and visiting places like Mexico and Puerto Rico.
