About Mark
I am an aerospace engineering junior at The University of Texas at Austin. I have always been technically inclined, but my passion for science and math started to manifest in 9th grade; when I joined my school's math olympiad group and won two bronze medals throughout the year, one of which at the yearly National Costa Rican Olympiad, which had over 3000 participants. I finished 9th grade in Costa Rica but was awarded a full academic scholarship to attend a STEM high school in China after that: Saint Paul American School - Shanghai, from which I graduated valedictorian. My academic passions have lasted through college, where I am participating in several extracurricular projects that involve a lot of math. Moreover, throughout high school and college, my friends have always come to me with questions about science and math, and I even formally tutored two underclassmen during my senior year of high school. Therefore, I am excited to continue teaching and revisit the mathematical fundamentals of my degree.

Many students leave high school determined to avoid mathematics for the rest of their lives because of improper education. My goal is the mitigate this risk by providing a holistic overview of the subject's principles and their implications, encouraging questions, and providing extensive practice material. My belief is that once a subject has been thoroughly explained by the teacher, the best way to engrain this knowledge is to let the students struggle with problems of increasing difficulty and provide answers only once a genuine effort has been made.
