Hi, I'm Vinod. I am a FIDE Rated Chess Expert (peak rating 2033) and currently ranked among the top players in the region.

With over 15 years of competitive experience, I have moved beyond just "playing moves" to understanding the deep psychology and logic of the game. I have competed at the highest levels in New Zealand and Australia, facing some of the strongest opponents in the hemisphere.

Why I Teach:
I realized that many talented players get stuck at the 1000–1500 level because they lack a system. They play "hope chess"—making a move and hoping the opponent doesn't see the threat.

My goal is to break those bad habits. I don't just want to show you what to play; I want to teach you how to think like a Master.

Whether you are an adult looking to finally beat your club rivals, or a parent wanting your child to learn discipline and focus, I offer a structured, professional environment to help you reach your goals.

FIDE Standard Rating: 2033 (Expert Level).

Rank: Top ~100 (NZ Active List) and Top 125 AU

About the lesson

Stop playing "Hope Chess". Start thinking like an Expert (FIDE 2033).

Most students hit a rating plateau because they rely on intuition and "tricks" rather than solid calculation. As a FIDE Rated Expert (2033) and Top-Ranked player, I teach you how to switch from "System 1" (fast, emotional guessing) to "System 2" (deep, logical calculation).

My coaching is designed for Intermediate to Advanced players who are tired of being stuck at the same rating.

What we will cover in your lessons:

The "Autopsy" (Game Analysis): We don't just look at your wins; we dissect your losses. I will help you identify the exact psychological or tactical blind spots that are costing you games.

Calculation & Visualization: I will teach you the specific methods I use to calculate 5+ moves ahead without getting confused or tired.

Endgame Mastery: This is where most amateur games are lost. We will cover the theoretical endgames you must know to turn draws into wins.

Opening Repertoire: Instead of memorizing endless lines, I will build you a solid opening repertoire based on ideas and plans that fit your personal style.

My Coaching Philosophy:
I don't just teach chess moves; I teach mental discipline. You will learn how to handle tournament pressure, manage your clock, and eliminate the "tilt" that ruins your progress.

Format:

Online: Professional screen-sharing via Zoom/Skype (using Lichess/Chess.com analysis tools).

In-Person: Available for serious students in Melbourne (Western Suburbs).
