About Kevin
Since elementary school, I have been passionate about biology and involved in learning activities both in and outside of school. These experiences exposed me to a range of biological concepts, allowing me to confidently guide students through tough concepts without confusion.
As a tutor, my advantage is that I have just finished the Ontario high school curriculum. As a result, I remain very familiar with the learning approaches I developed, (e.g., how to fully understand a physiological process, how to make terms/definitions stick, etc.) and can transfer them to my students

I believe that every student and every biological concept requires a different learning approach. I always start by helping students clearly identify their goals in biology (e.g., understanding a concept, memorizing specific terms or definitions, improving scientific writing skills, etc.) and developing individualized learning approaches that will work for them, allowing them to not only memorize content, but also understand it.
Some of my educational approaches include inquiry and problem-based learning, active recall, and using analogies to walk through biological processes. I also use interactive materials (e.g., games, flashcards, etc.) to improve memorization.
While helping students conquer tough biological concepts, I also want to help them UNDERSTAND these concepts and discover HOW they learn best, which will benefit them in the long term.
I offer online tutoring in the following subjects in the Ontario curriculum:
- AP Biology
- SNC1W (grade 9 science) --> ecology unit
- SNC2D (grade 10 science) --> cell biology
- SBI3U/3C (grade 11 biology) --> zoology, genetics, plants (botany), and physiology
- SBI4U/4C (grade 12 biology) --> biochemistry, metabolic processes, molecular genetics, physiology, population dynamics
- Elementary school biology
