About Charilaos
My original background is in Physics (Ph.D. from Syracuse University) and software (have worked as software engineer for more than 20 years in multiple companies). Currently, having retired from software, I am dedicating all of my time in improving my skills in chess, having raised my United States Chess Federation rating to 1792 and hoping to raise it even further. I have also created my own YouTube chess channel where I upload a video on an almost daily basis. I would love to have the opportunity to assist other motivated individuals.

About the lesson

Teaching method: first identify the chess level of the student. Go through their games, identify strengths and weaknesses.
Next step: go through their knowledge of chess theory, ideas and techniques. Identify gaps that need to be filled.
Further steps: is the student able to apply knowledge and skills during an actual game? Should more emphasis be placed on enhancing knowledge, or on the application of knowledge?
Final step: identify "weakest link". Is it the opening phase, the middle game or the ending? Is it tactics or is it positional play?
Lessons are mostly for players of rating 1500 or below of all ages.
