About Vasilisa

I’ve been in the UX/UI design game for over ten years, and I’m here to help you navigate your own journey. I totally get what it’s like to feel a bit lost when searching for that first job, and I know the tips and tricks that can help you succeed. My journey started as a web designer at a small company in Israel. From there, I worked my way up, contracting with some big names in tech and diving into exciting startup projects. When I moved to Australia, I went freelance, which taught me a ton about finding clients and managing projects. I’ve worked with all kinds of businesses—small, medium, you name it! Then I moved to a creative agency as UX/UI designer and have won several awards for my designs along the way. I had the chance to work at a major consultancy, where I tackled some pretty big projects like government platforms and banking apps. That’s when I moved up into a Product Designer role. And on the side, I’ve been flexing my creative muscles as an art and creative director, organizing and styling photoshoots in the fashion world. With all this experience, I’m excited to share what I know and help you kickstart your career in UX/UI design!

About the lesson

A Teacher, a mentor, a friend

My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can learn, explore, and gain hands-on experience in UX/UI design. A key element for me is understanding your unique objectives and needs, allowing me to tailor our lessons effectively to help you succeed.

I offer a wide range of topics, including:

- UX/UI Design Principles: Understanding the foundations that make designs user-centered.
- Figma: Getting hands-on experience with THE tool used in the industry for design.
- Portfolio development: Building a standout portfolio that highlights your skills and experience, and helps to get your desired job.
- CV and cover letter prep: Crafting a strong CV and cover letter that catch employers’ attention.
- LinkedIn profile optimisation: Upgrading your LinkedIn profile to make it shine and attract opportunities.
- Freelancing setup: Practical advice on starting as a freelancer, including how to find clients, freelance platforms preparations, portfolio, tips on how to write contracts, and set up your business.
- Interview preparation: Conducting mock interviews to prepare you for the job market.
- Feedback sessions: Reviewing your work, providing constructive feedback, and identifying areas for improvement.

Teaching Methodology:
I employ a variety of lesson types to keep our sessions engaging and aligned with your goals. Some days, we might hold workshops where I present key theories and concepts, while other sessions focus on practical exercises using design tools like Figma. If you're preparing for an interview, we can conduct mock interviews to build your confidence and skills. Additionally, after you've worked on your portfolio, we can review it together, where I’ll provide feedback on strengths and areas for improvement.

Lesson Length:
While our standard sessions will last one hour, I am flexible with timing. For specific topics or exercises, I may suggest extending our class to 1.5 or 2 hours to ensure we cover everything thoroughly.

With my background as a Product Designer for a leading consultancy and my experience in both agency and freelance settings, I understand the challenges of entering the UX/UI field. I've worked with various clients, from startups to major corporations, and I know what it takes to land your first job and excel in the industry.
