About Renée

Hi, I’m Renée, a final-year English Literature student at the University of Oxford. I know how intense GCSE and A-Level English can feel, especially when you're juggling deadlines, dense texts, and managing other subjects too. I’m here to help students make sense of it all and enjoy it along the way! I’ve spent the past few years studying literature at the highest level, winning three awards at Oxford for my academic work and exploring everything from Shakespeare and Victorian tragedy to postcolonial novels and contemporary fiction. Before uni, I had my poetry performed at the BBC Proms (Year 10) and COP26 (Sixth Form), so I bring both a creative and analytical mindset to tutoring. My lessons are tailored to you. Whether you’re aiming for a 9 or trying to get comfortable with exam technique, I focus on building confidence, clarity, and a genuine understanding of your texts. I believe in making literature feel relevant — not just quotes to memorise, but a subject that sharpens how we think, write, and express ourselves. I teach with empathy, insight, and encouragement, drawing on my experience working with students in academic, creative, and mentoring settings. English Literature is more than just a subject: it’s a powerful, lifelong tool for self-expression, critical thinking, and seeing the world differently.

FREE CONSULTATION In our free consultation session, I will review a recent piece of the student's work and provide: 1.) A clear assessment of strengths and areas for improvement 2.) Detailed feedback on essay structure and argumentation 3.) Practical recommendations to boost your skills 4.) Guidance on focus areas for future lessons APPROACH My teaching is personalised to each student’s interests, abilities, and broader academic goals. I aim to make literature relevant and engaging by linking texts to student's experiences and aspirations beyond the classroom. This helps maintain motivation, especially during busy times like mocks and final exams. LESSON STRUCTURE Lessons are usually 60 minutes and will be delivered online. I set manageable weekly homework to reinforce learning, with clear guidance and feedback.
