About Joshua
I am a violinist with 17 years of playing experience, including solo performance experience and winning the Alpharetta Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. I have also worked one-on-one with students in my community and enjoy helping beginners and intermediate players build strong fundamentals, confidence, and musicality. I have also tutored math and computer science courses, so my tutoring experience extends beyond violin.
As a recent computer science grad from Georgia Tech, I bring professionalism, patience, and a structured approach to every lesson.

My teaching style is positive, clear, and encouraging. I focus on giving students specific, constructive feedback they can apply right away. For example, instead of saying “Don’t play aggressively,” I might say, “Use less bow pressure so the tone can sing and sound lighter.” Why? This tells the student what to do instead of what not to do, which helps students improve in a way that feels supportive and practical.
I usually spend the first lesson or two getting a feel for each student’s level, goals, and interests, then I build a plan around them. Lessons may include scales for tone, vibrato, and bow control, a piece that is a good fit for their level, and something fun the student wants to work on.
My lessons are best suited for beginner and intermediate violinists with about 0–6 years of experience.
