About Ian
Intonation, vibrato, and bowing technique serve as the technical foundation for the 13 years I spent playing in Boston orchestras. Tuning by ear and sight reading are non-negotiable skills for any serious violinist.
I prioritize left hand agility alongside proper posture and hold to ensure efficiency. Ear training and music theory are essential. My 13 years of professional playing inform how I teach ABRSM or Trinity grade exam prep.
Precise listening remains the core ability I transmit to students. I maintain a disciplined environment.

Silence defines the room. During our 60 minute block, we examine the structural integrity of Bach sonatas and partitas as our spiritual bedrock.
Technique is never accidental. My MMus from the Yale School of Music provides the lens through which we analyze repertoire. I observe your phrasing closely to ensure every note speaks clearly.
Attention to detail is absolute. We refine your sound through rigorous mechanical adjustment. This process builds the structural foundation necessary for advanced performance. Great music requires total focus.
