About Kathleen
A typical lesson focuses on building a bridge between theoretical knowledge and your personal musical expression. I have taught 256 students how to navigate the fretboard with both ease and precision. We spend our time balancing electric technique with the foundational rhythm guitar skills required for any genre.
You will benefit from my 13 years of teaching experience as we work through your specific technical hurdles. To keep you on track, I provide a monthly recorded review of your progress during our sessions.
This system ensures that you can see how far you have come since we started our journey together. My method avoids rigid, dry drills in favor of practical applications that make sense for your unique level. We move at a pace that keeps you challenged without becoming overwhelmed by the technical demands of the instrument.

Do you find yourself feeling stuck in a loop while trying to teach yourself the guitar? I often work with hobbyists and self-taught players who need a structured path to move past their current plateau. With 13 years of teaching experience, I have developed a method that simplifies complex scales and modes.
My approach blends the academic rigor of my BM Guitar degree with the warmth of my background teaching newcomer families. I find that when we incorporate a bit of songwriting or blues theory, the technical work becomes much more engaging for kids and adults alike.
It is truly rewarding to see a student finally master a difficult fingerpicking pattern after weeks of practice. I enjoy the process of turning musical confusion into a clear, methodical roadmap for my students. Working with grade exam candidates has taught me exactly how to break down intimidating techniques into manageable steps. I keep things friendly and relaxed because music should ultimately be a joyful pursuit for everyone involved.
