About Karina

am an aspiring teacher with experiences that have prepared me for this opportunity position. I planned and implemented differentiated instruction and applied strategic classroom management in an ICT class of 23 students of first grade. Currently I am the special education teacher in fourth grade. I also planned and implemented differentiated instruction and applied strategic classroom management in a class of 25 students during my student teaching experience. My goal as a teacher included keeping students interested, engaged, and challenged by rigorous questioning and discussions.
Throughout over 200 observation hours in college, and over 500 student teaching hours, I have planned, prepared, and executed multiple lessons throughout different grade levels ranging from pre-k to 5th grade. During student teaching I taught a literary essay unit in 5th grade, which included interdisciplinary activities. Also, in the 5th grade class, with weeks of preparation, I was able to teach and execute my edTPA learning experience, which resulted in a passing grade. This unit included 5 days of lessons that involved one on one, small group, and whole group activities in order to benefit each individual student’s learning needs. Also, I was a teacher assistant at Iona College where I helped the professor with lesson planning and student engagement. Overall, I have learned how to maintain a safe and respectful learning environment and how to promote classroom engagement throughout many different grade levels.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Childhood Education with a concentration in History from Iona University in May 2020. I received honors such as Dean’s List. I also completed my Master’s degree in Special Education and Literacy at Iona University in August 2023. I am currently persuading a second masters degree in Spanish for middle school.
