About Nathan
I didn't like the work as an engineer, and as I've tried to find something I love, I've found tutoring. I really enjoy seeing students' joy when they understand something they were struggling with while also continuing to exercise my own aptitudes. A lot of the confidence I have in math comes from the engineering environments I worked in. Electrical Engineering is a very math-heavy major, I've heard to have as high as a 75% dropout rate. I struggled with it a lot myself, but when I got into the workforce, I really saw how the math met the real world, and it changed the way I think about things, giving me more objective and inclusive perspectives. The experience as a whole taught me a ton about life and the world, and I hope by simply working with me that some of that may pass on to you as well, in addition to helping you pass your classes.

I specialize in Calculus AB and BC, Calculus 1 and 2 equivalents in college. Two things I think set me apart are my ability to meet students where they are at and my willingness to take them many years back to the triple-Fs, Frequently Forgotten Fundamentals.
At the start of the session, the student will tell me what they want to work on for the day, and then we will work on that, be it their homework, a lesson, or supplemental problems. For the latter two, we'll start with basics and progress depending on the student's observed skill-level, which I determine through my questions to keep them engaged and make sure they understand what we are talking about and where we are going with it. If I see foundational gaps, I may suggest to the student we work on those immediately or in the near future, depending on the circumstances.
I use my own textbook but will use yours if supplied. I can assign homework if desired. Send me a message if you'd like to meet!
