About Conrad
My name is Conrad and I'm in my second year of Health Sciences with an Honors Specialization in Rehabilitation Sciences at Western University.
As a past and current student, I understand the struggles students may face in their journey. With over 5 years of tutoring experience, I can assure you that I will provide effective and flexible tutoring services that don't just close academic gaps, but build lasting skills for future academic pursuits. My experience covers students from ages 6-19 with a focus on math, science and English. In addition, I am serving as Academic Director for a university-affiliated club, and my past role as a peer-to-peer mentor for first-year courses and prospective tutors.
My teaching philosophy consists of empowering the student to become a self-sufficient, independent learner - so as not to rely indefinitely on the tutor's services. I achieve this through gradually expanding a student's comfort zone through initially using extensive support and gradually removing it as the student gains confidence in a concept. I'm also a firm believer in establishing good habits early, which will carry on to serve the student well for their future academic pursuits. For younger students especially, I encourage parents to be heavily involved in the learning process, so the student remains engaged and motivated even if concepts become difficult.

Students studying middle school or high school math and science (grades 4-12) will be a great fit for my lessons.
I emphasize learning the content, not just regurgitating information to pass a test. By understanding the underlying concepts behind a subject, students will be better-equipped for tests. I use a flexible mix of worked examples, asking questions about content, and tying class content to real-life contexts.
In addition to supplementing academic knowledge, I also emphasize the development of independent learning skills, coach study strategies, test-taking techniques, and other strategies for success. These are lasting benefits that go beyond any academic knowledge!
