About Virginia
Starting with a bow hold might feel like an odd place to begin. A simple physical adjustment often solves the most stubborn technical problems.
We look at spiccato, staccato, and orchestral playing through the lens of my RCM training. Tuning by ear and ear training drills take up significant space in our time together. I provide recorded playback of tricky passages so you have a guide for your home practice. This allows for clarity when you are struggling with a specific phrase.
My 13 years of teaching mean I have seen nearly every common hurdle students encounter. The session concludes once we have clarified your technical goals for the week.

Violin playing began for me at age 8. That early start remains central to my identity.
My path through the conservatory years added guitar and voice to my repertoire. I hold a Bachelor of Music from Humber College and achieved RCM Grade 10 status. Having spent 13 years in this field, I focus heavily on TONE PRODUCTION and VIBRATO. Rhythm and timing are non-negotiable foundations for my students.
I guide grade exam candidates through ABRSM and Trinity requirements while helping kids and hobbyists build confidence. My work is rooted in a measured approach to technique. You can expect a steady focus on your musical progress.
