About Christine
Christine is a teacher, composer, singer, multi-instrumentalist, and performer currently residing in Northern NSW, Australia.
Music is Christine's passion and gift and it gives her great joy to share the love of music with others and watch their musical skills and abilities blossom. She has been fortunate to give private tuition and mentor-ship to students who have gone on to successful careers as performers, concert pianists and music teachers.
Christine has been involved in music making from an early age, learning piano, guitar, and various other instruments as a child. Her passion and aptitude for music composition, improvisation and performance was nurtured throughout her upbringing and was refined as she studied a Bachelor of Music degree, majoring in music composition, piano, and voice.
She then went on to an extensive career teaching music at high and primary school level for the three decades to follow. For over ten years she was head of the Performing Arts department in a large high school. Her time as a teacher has gifted her with considerable experience in producing and directing countless extra-curricular activities including school and community concerts, stage bands, choirs, school musical productions, vocal groups and the like.
Alongside her busy and fulfilling weeks as a teacher, Christine spent occasional weekends entertaining at weddings, clubs, and events as part of a music duo and received regular work throughout regional Queensland.
She has also actively operated a private music tuition business for many years.
Christine's Qualifications include:
Diploma in Teaching (General Primary) Southern Cross University
Bachelor of Music Degree (School Music) University of Qld.

Methodology
I have a diverse and extensive experience from which to draw inspiration and willingly adapt and customize my lessons to make them fun, motivational and rewarding. I cater for individual students' learning styles, differences and personal lesson goals.
Choosing the best teaching books and repertoire is crucial for both young and adult players and I can confidently select appropriate material. Equally important is to learn how to use practice time efficiently and effectively. During most lessons the work covered would include warm ups and technical work, sight reading, aural development, playing and feedback on studied pieces and learning a new piece. Home practice notes are written in a student exercise book which also informs parents of work set for the week and a means of weekly communication to and from parents.
I can offer lessons in preparation for AMEB examinations or for leisure and tuition for both children and adults.
Background
I completed a Bachelor of Music Teaching Degree from the University of Queensland with elective studies in Piano, Composition, Voice and Piano Pedagogy and have enjoyed a teaching career in high and primary schools for over 30 years.
I have continued with regular public performances throughout my teaching career in a range of popular idioms and classical styles.
Additionally I have operated my music tuition business and have extensive one to one experience in tutoring mainly beginner to intermediate piano but also guitar, singing and a range of woodwind and brass instruments at beginner level. My pupils have ranged in age from 4 to 70 years and students come away from lessons with a renewed sense of confidence from learning in an encouraging and safe environment.
