My Approach as Your Math Tutor
Teaching math isn’t just about numbers and rules to me — it’s about helping you feel confident, capable, and even curious about a subject many people find intimidating. Here’s exactly how I work, what you can expect, and who these lessons are for.
My Teaching Method & Techniques
My rule is simple: understand first, memorize later. I’ve seen too many students get stuck because they only learned formulas, not what they actually mean. Here’s how I do it differently:
Explain in plain language: No confusing jargon unless I first break it down into something you can easily picture. I use everyday examples — things you see, do, or use in real life — so math feels useful, not just abstract.
Go step-by-step, at your pace: If a topic feels big, we split it into small, easy wins. If you need more time to grasp something, we take it; if you catch on quickly, we move ahead without dragging it out.
Learn by doing, not listening: I won’t just talk at you. We solve problems together, I ask you to explain your thinking, and when you make a mistake, we don’t just fix it — we figure out why it happened. That’s how you stop repeating errors.
Fill the gaps first: Most struggles come from missing something earlier — like not fully understanding fractions before moving to algebra. I always check your foundation first, so new topics feel easy instead of impossible.
Patient and judgment-free: There is no “too simple” question. If something doesn’t make sense, just say so — I’ll explain it again, in a different way, until it clicks.
