About Lani
A little bit about me:
- When I was a kid I struggled and thought I was not smart until I had a great teacher who encouraged me and helped me to see that I WAS smart! I just needed to understand how I learned as an Individual and I needed someone to take the time to help me.
- I was a three season athlete in high school. (Soccer, Softball, and Indoor track) Now I coach varsity girls soccer.
- I started college when I was in high school and graduated with my associates degree before I got my high school diploma.
- I was also a published co-author and a certified lab technician at Umass Amherst while I was still in high school!
- I ended up graduating high school with a college diploma and having my research published in two different microbiology articles.
- I graduated from Gordon College with my bachelors degree in biology and having been on the Deans list almost every semester I attended Gordon.
- After graduating I started teaching labs at Gordon and have worked my way up to teaching online biology courses at Gordon College.
Fun Fact: I have worked with NASA! I have helped analyze student experiments that were sent up to the national Space Station to experience zero gravity. I have also attended many conferences, held by NASA, at the Air and Space Museum in Washington to hear students present their findings.

I teach high school or collegiate level students. My approach is to help equip each individual student with the scaffolding they need to succeed in the classroom. I aim to help students learn how to study and take on their learning as individuals. I am a hands on and visual learner and I have found that many students learn best when my lesson plans contain hands-on tasks or when they can see it done and ask questions.
I believe that inquiry is one of the best forms of learning. I always encourage students to ask questions and voice any confusion they might have so that nothing gets in the way of their learning.
