About Peyton
I am a dedicated piano tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and over eight years of experience teaching students across various ages and skill levels. My journey with the piano began in childhood and has grown into a lifelong passion that fuels both my teaching and my own continued study of music. I believe in making music accessible, meaningful, and enjoyable for everyone I teach. Over the years, I’ve worked with beginners taking their first steps on the keyboard, as well as more advanced students preparing for graded exams, auditions, or personal musical goals. My approach to teaching is highly personalized—I focus on understanding each student’s strengths, challenges, and interests, which allows me to craft lessons that are both structured and motivating. In addition to technique and repertoire, I emphasize the importance of musical expression, listening, and overall musicianship. I regularly incorporate theory, sight-reading, and creative exercises like improvisation to give students a well-rounded understanding of music. I also believe that building confidence at the piano contributes positively to personal development, especially for younger learners. Teaching piano is not just about guiding fingers over keys—it’s about opening the door to a deeper appreciation of music and helping students find their voice through the instrument. I am committed to creating a supportive, inspiring space where students feel encouraged to grow, make mistakes, and ultimately succeed on their musical journey.

My piano lessons are thoughtfully designed to meet each student’s individual pace and aspirations, whether you're just starting out or looking to refine your existing skills. I create a structured yet flexible learning environment that balances discipline with creativity, making each session engaging and rewarding. Students are encouraged to grow not only technically but also musically.
For beginners, I introduce essential concepts such as hand positioning, rhythm, and basic note reading. Through enjoyable pieces and progressive exercises, students quickly gain the skills and confidence to play simple songs while understanding foundational theory. I also incorporate ear training and improvisation to keep learning dynamic and fun.
Intermediate and advanced learners work on technique development, expressive playing, and more challenging repertoire. We focus on phrasing, dynamics, and stylistic interpretation, along with preparing for recitals, exams, or personal milestones. Lessons also include music theory, sight-reading, and strategies for efficient practice.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Music and 8 years of teaching experience, I combine academic knowledge with hands-on expertise. My teaching philosophy centers on encouragement, patience, and consistent growth. I strive to help every student develop not just technical ability, but a lifelong love for music and the piano.
