About Conor

I want to teach Spanish because I believe it's a key that unlocks countless doors. Learning Spanish allows you to connect with people from diverse cultures, opening up a world of friendships and experiences. Imagine traveling through Latin America, effortlessly ordering food, engaging in lively conversations, and immersing yourself in the local culture.

Beyond travel, Spanish is a valuable asset in the professional world. Many multinational companies operate in Spanish-speaking countries, creating exciting opportunities for careers in business, diplomacy, healthcare, and technology.

But most importantly, I want to show my students that learning Spanish can be fun and natural. Traditional classroom settings can sometimes feel rigid and impersonal. I believe in a more interactive approach, where students actively participate in conversations, role-plays, and cultural activities. By focusing on real-life communication and fostering a love for the language, I hope to inspire my students to embrace the beauty and versatility of Spanish.

Spanish Tutoring: A Comprehensive Approach

My lessons are designed to be engaging and effective, combining various teaching techniques to cater to different learning styles. A typical one-hour lesson might look like this:

* **Quick Review:** A brief recap of the previous lesson's key points.
* **Conversation Starter:** A short discussion on a current topic or cultural aspect of Spanish-speaking countries.

2. **Grammar or Vocabulary Focus (20 minutes):**
* **Clear Explanation:** A detailed explanation of a specific grammar rule or vocabulary set, using examples and visual aids if necessary.
* **Practice Exercises:** Guided practice exercises to reinforce understanding.

3. **Reading or Listening Comprehension (15 minutes):**
* **Text or Audio Presentation:** Introduction to a text or audio clip, relevant to the student's level and interests.
* **Comprehension Questions:** Questions to assess understanding of the content.
* **Discussion:** Open-ended discussion to encourage critical thinking and language use.

4. **Speaking Practice (15 minutes):**
* **Conversation Topics:** Discussions on various topics, from everyday life to current events.

* **BA in Modern Languages:** A strong foundation in language acquisition and teaching methodologies.
* **Year Abroad in Valladolid:** Immersive experience in Spanish language and culture, enhancing fluency and intercultural competence.
* **Tutoring Experience: Proven ability to tailor lessons to individual needs and learning styles, particularly for Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students.

**Target Students:**

* **Junior Cert and Leaving Cert Students:** Preparation for exams, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
* **Language Learners:** All levels, from beginners to advanced, seeking to improve their Spanish for travel, work, or personal interest.
