New York City
David Fernandez is an award-winning choreographer, dance filmmaker, and master teacher based in New York City. His work bridges classical ballet and contemporary movement, bringing theatricality, musicality, and storytelling to both the stage and screen. His acclaimed Five Variations on a Theme was created for New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Joaquín De Luz and premiered as part of the international Kings of the Dance tour. The work was performed to enthusiastic audiences in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Rome, Moscow, Kyiv, and Odesa.
Fernandez has also created works for leading dancers and organizations associated with American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem Ensemble, Youth America Grand Prix Gala, and other national and international dance programs.

My lessons focus on musicality and the flow of movement. Each exercise in barre and center has its unique way of movement and musicality. I like to teach students how to be free within the ballet technique. Very importantly, how to have fun with it.
