I like to have a very malleable teaching process. In my experience, the best way to learn is to do so in an engaging way that interests the individual student. For some that may mean diving into the music theory and for other it may involve learning songs that they are already interested in to get a better feel for the instrument. I try to keep things fun and light and remind my students that learning an instrument is a gradual process that likely won't happen over night but through continue practice and determination anyone can see their skills grow exponentially.
I am a guitarist and bassist with over 8 years of experience playing and performing. I have taught many people in a professional and friendly manner all of whom have continued to excel in their preferred instrument. In addition to learning how to play your instrument I can also offer technical knowledge of the guitar itself: What different parts do, how pick-ups work, the function of the individual nobs and switches on your guitar, how to restring your instrument, etc.
