About Joy
My background includes being a collegiate swimmer, YMCA lifeguard, Kaneohe Yacht Club swimming director and teacher. I hold current Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard certifications as well as CPR/1st Aid for Adults, Children, and Infants from Red Cross. From many years of experience teaching swimmers of all ages and fitness levels, I have refined instruction of breathing technique, stroke form, and water safety in personalized lessons. Whether you are a beginner, conquering fear or lack of skills, or an intermediate swimmer looking to improve your swim as a lifetime sport ~ we go at your pace. Swimming truly is the best exercise! In a single activity we are able to de-stress, lose weight, do cardio, and gain strength and flexibility.
In private or semi-private lessons we will break down proper form of breathing and the basic strokes UNTIL you &/or your child feel confident and coordinated in the water.

Children and adults feel at ease with my encouraging, calm nature. I have taught one-on-one and group swimming classes with individuals of all ages and levels over the past 15 years to achieve their aquatic exercise goals.
