About Mo

I love math. I love sharing math. I know that many students experience math anxiety today, and I have the empathy, patience, and tools to help students fall back in love with the patterns and relationships that define mathematics. I approach math-learning with an asset-based approach, affirming and amplifying the skills students already have. I have experience working with students of all skill and confidence levels. In addition to tutoring on my own, I have had working relationships with IdTech, Club Scikidz, and several elementary, middle, and high schools across the nation.

I got my start teaching early- I have been tutoring math since middle school. I motivated and rewarded students, encouraging math literacy as well as persistence, problem-solving, and proper question phrasing.

I am currently a math minor at the Catholic University of America. I have studied math anxiety and math literacy with Gretchen Whipple, and I have been trained as a tutor by IdTech, as well as a classroom teacher by Club Scikidz.

About the lesson

Before presenting the student with any math problems, I first ask questions to understand their experience, confidence level, motivations, and learning goals. Depending on that information, I develop a customized and adaptable curriculum that responds to the student's needs, skills, and daily applications.

I have worked with students of all backrounds, confidence levels, and skill, from elementary schoolers to college students.

Details

My hourly rate is $35- $70, depending on travelling distance, grade level, desired outcomes, and whether lessons are remote or in person. This rate is flexible, and I encourage you to contact me if you are concerned about pricing.
