About Ying

Hi there! I’m Ying, and I’m so excited to help you learn Chinese!

I’ve spent over 10 years living and working in Dubai, which means I know exactly what it’s like to learn a new language while navigating a new culture. This experience inspired me to become a Chinese tutor, and I’ve now helped students from all over the world build their Mandarin skills for over 3 years.

My approach is simple: I want you to feel comfortable, confident, and excited to learn. I focus on practical, everyday Chinese that you can use right away, and I always tailor lessons to your interests and goals—whether that’s ordering food in a Chinese restaurant, chatting with friends, or even advancing your career.

I’m patient, flexible, and always here to answer your questions. No matter if you’re a complete beginner or looking to polish your advanced skills, we’ll work at your pace, and celebrate every win together.

Hi there! I’m Ying, your go-to Chinese tutor for fun, no-stress Mandarin lessons!

My approach? Learn Chinese the way you’ll actually use it. No boring textbook drills here—we’ll chat about topics you love, use real-life examples, and practice speaking from day one. I use games, role-plays, and even pop culture references to make grammar and vocab stick without feeling like work.

What does a typical lesson look like? Super simple: we start with a quick review, dive into a new topic with easy-to-understand explanations, practice together with fun activities, and wrap up with a quick recap. I always leave time for you to ask questions or just chat about your week in Chinese!

What makes me different? I’m here to make you feel comfortable speaking, even when you make mistakes. I know learning a new language can be scary, so I keep lessons low-pressure and focus on celebrating your wins, big or small. I also tailor every class to your goals—whether you want to order food in China, chat with your Chinese friends, or nail a business meeting.

My lessons are perfect for everyone: total beginners who don’t know where to start, intermediate learners stuck in a rut, and advanced learners wanting to sound more natural. No prior experience needed—just bring your curiosity!

Marshall is a really interesting person to teach! He picks up new knowledge and concepts rapidly during lessons. The only small improvement point is to practice more on language organisation; once he polishes this skill further, his expression will become much more polished and fluent.
