About Madi

Hiii! My name is Madi!
I’m an artist with years of experience in a wide variety of mediums, and I love helping people grow their creativity in a way that feels fun, supportive, and personalized. I’m currently a full-time college student on my way to becoming a certified Cybersecurity Specialist. I also have a strong background in English (top of county), so I’m happy to help with writing and communication skills when needed.

My lesson hours are weekdays after 3pm EST due to my strict schedule, but I’m always available to message at any time regardless if you're scheduled for lessons or not. On weekends, I work as a caricature and portrait artist at Dollywood, which gives me lots of hands-on experience that I bring into my lessons.

I’m LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent-friendly, and very patient. As someone with Autism and a few major health conditions, I understand that everyone learns differently, and I aim to create a comfortable, flexible space for every student.

I also share my home with my sweet dog, Saddie, and my two curious rats, Penny and Lennie, so you may see them pop in now and then!

If you’re looking for a kind, understanding tutor who will support your goals and help you grow at your own pace, I’d love to work with you!

About the lesson

My lessons focus on helping you grow in your own unique way and style while building a strong foundation in the basics. Instead of a rigid horrible rubric, I tailor each lesson to your skill level and interests to help you learn to love the arts to aid you in any way such as a new hobby, mental health expression, a homeschooling class, or a thing to do to get out of the house!

I can work with every learning method at any pace while making your comfort come first. With a strong background in technology, I utilize many ways to help you learn online! Such examples are screen sharing, calling/video chatting, showing my paper, practices to do outside of lessons, online whiteboards, etc. :)

As for how the lessons go, I'll get to know you in the beginning by learning you and your interests and then help you shape your skill. I'll have plenty of assignments (upon request~) and a course personally laid out for you to follow!

I met Madi online when searching for help with my art and she asked my learning style- I said I didn't have a clue and she immediately got to know me and ask me a few questions that helped her pinpoint it exactly! She was able to read me like a book and talk to me like she knew me my whole life LOL. I have improved DRASTICALLY on coloring and drawing outside of the box, I don't worry nearly as much as I used to about the way my art is perceived. She draws with me by sharing her screen on a Discord or Zoom call, and when it's digitally we open up an online whiteboard and she literally helps correct and teach me real time. She's the realest of real 10/10, love her!

OVERVIEW:

IN PERSON LESSONS:
✧ I will only travel to public spaces, a Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts preferred but any fast food or public park within radius works! (NOTE: I do responsibly carry accessible items for self-defense)
✧ I will bring most, if not all, of the materials you will be needing. If you decide to keep me as your tutor, I will be sure to get you the appropriate supplies for your lessons! (which is pretty much why it's priced a lot higher than online tutoring)

ONLINE:
✧ You will be responsible for the materials you will be using - HOWEVER, I will match what materials you use with mine! Lead pencil and printer paper? I'll do the same!
✧ You are able to message me (not call) any time for questions or help but it may take a bit to reply as I am a college student!
