About Charles
I have played chess for over 40 years at club and tournament levels with a peak rating of 1865 USCF. I've also played lots of NYC street chess back in the days. I'm in Houston, TX now.
Since retiring in 2019 from upper management in Manufacturing, I began teaching chess to K - 12 students at several area schools. I have also organized and volunteered at several Houston Public Library Chess Clubs.
I am also a US Chess Federation Certified local Chess Tournament Director and have organized several chess clubs and tournaments in the Houston, TX area. Contact me if you would like to sponsor a rated tournament!

I use proven, easy steps to teach chess to new students. New students can begin playing chess mini-games quickly, usually after one lesson.
Students will learn to understand and use chess principles. I focus on understanding the game move by move, not memorizing.
Intermediate students learn how to break down and analyze any chess position, then play accordingly to what the position dictates.
