About Elena

I’m Elena Castillo, a bilingual Spanish tutor with 7 years of experience working with learners across all age groups. I studied Spanish Language and Education at the University of Arizona and completed specialized training in beginner childhood and adult language acquisition. I was awarded the 2020 “Language Starts Here” Award by the New Language Learning Project for my work with new learners. Whether you're starting Spanish at 9 or 90, I’ll help you love the journey.

About the lesson

I teach Spanish like it’s meant to be experienced: friendly, clear, and made for connection. In my beginner lessons, we focus on speaking and understanding first—using simple, useful phrases like greetings, common questions, and everyday vocabulary. You’ll start saying real Spanish words from day one, even if you’ve never tried before. I use age-appropriate visuals, repetition games, and listening tools to make learning feel fun and stress-free.

As we move forward, we’ll build short sentences, learn how to introduce ourselves, and start to understand how Spanish works without making it feel overwhelming. I work with each student’s age and pace, whether it’s a young child, a teen exploring new skills, or an adult learning for travel or curiosity. My goal is to help you feel good about speaking and grow into the language naturally and confidently.
