About Jaymi
I started violin 41 years ago. I performed with Johns Hopkins orchestra, San Fernando Valley orchestra, and a variety of local groups in various genres. My violin undergraduate studies included a position as a graduate T.A. in music theory and skills.
My studies included rigorous North Indian classical violin and vocal training. (Indian music lessons available by special request.) Also, the Galamian scale system, etudes by Kreutzer and Kotek, and standard Western classical repertoire. My dual-training in Western and Eastern music enhances violin styles like tango and gypsy-jazz.
Beginners will benefit from my flexible yet structured approach to the violin.

Playing violin is 80% bow and 20% left hand. Learning the basic alignments for the bow can prevent you from giving up violin practice. This will also reduce frustration. I can help you to produce a beautiful tone that makes practicing enjoyable, regardless of your preferred violin style. These techniques apply to them all.
