About Kiran

I'm Kiran — I graduated with a degree in behavioral neuroscience, where I spent four years studying how the brain drives behavior, cognition, and learning. That's not a general psychology degree; it's the science behind it, including research design, neuroanatomy, and data analysis.

I've always been the person friends came to when they needed something explained in a way that actually made sense. Tutoring is a natural extension of that. I break complex ideas down without dumbing them down, and I meet students where they are instead of assuming what they should already know.

I'm reliable, I show up prepared, and I take your goals seriously whether that's passing a class, acing the AP exam, or genuinely understanding the material. I'm based in the Andover, Massachusetts area and available for both in-person and online sessions.

About the lesson

I studied behavioral neuroscience in undergrad, which means I didn't just learn psychology from a textbook — I learned how the brain actually produces behavior, how we design experiments to test it, and how to read the research that most psych courses only summarize.

That background changes how I teach. When a student is struggling with, say, classical conditioning or the biological basis of memory, I can explain what's actually happening at the neural level and why it matters. Psychology stops feeling like vocabulary flashcards and starts making sense as a connected system.

A typical session looks like this: We start with whatever's giving you trouble — a concept from class, a practice FRQ, a confusing textbook chapter. I figure out where the gap is (usually it's a foundational piece that got skipped), fill that in, and then we work through problems together until you can explain it back to me without notes. If you can teach it, you know it.

My approach: I don't lecture at you for an hour. I ask questions, make you reason through things out loud, and use real-world examples that actually stick. Psych is one of those subjects where a good analogy does more than re-reading the chapter three times.
