About Chris

I am a professional singer with over 15 years of active performing experience, trained at Berklee College of Music, where I specialised in Vocal Performance and Songwriting. I continue to work regularly in the music scene, which allows me to bring real-world, current industry insight into my teaching. I teach because music has shaped my life, and I have seen firsthand how deeply it can transform people. Music is not just a technical skill — it builds confidence, emotional expression, and connection. Teaching is my way of giving that back. I see it as a personal mission to encourage, guide, and support people on their musical path, whether they are just starting out or developing as professional artists. My aim is to create a supportive, focused, and inspiring learning environment where students feel confident, motivated, and genuinely excited about their progress.

My teaching approach is highly personalised and focused on building a healthy, reliable, and expressive voice. Every student is different, so lessons are tailored to your vocal needs, musical goals, and learning style. I work with proven vocal techniques that develop breath control, tone, range, resonance, and vocal stamina, while ensuring safe and sustainable voice use. Alongside technique, I place strong emphasis on musicality, interpretation, confidence, and performance skills. Lessons typically last 60 minutes, allowing enough time for technical work, repertoire development, and practical application. Sessions are structured but flexible, so we can adapt the focus depending on your progress and immediate goals, whether that’s improving technique, preparing for performances, auditions, recordings, or simply gaining confidence in your voice. My lessons are suitable for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced and professional singers. I teach teenagers and adults, and I also offer focused vocal coaching for performers, songwriters, and artists looking to refine their sound, technique, and stage presence.

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I was around 10 years old when I first discovered a video of AC/DC playing “Whole Lotta Rosie” live. Seeing Angus Young play guitar with that much energy and freedom really struck something in me. From that moment on I was completely hooked, and I got my first guitar not long after.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I can happily listen to 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s rock on repeat. Artists I never seem to tire of include Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Talking Heads, Jimi Hendrix, Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin — and of course, the Blues.
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

    Songwriting.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

    Trumpet. Just trust me.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

Passion, discipline, curiosity, and a genuine love for playing, learning, and sharing music with others.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why. Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, and Thom Yorke. I imagine the conversations would be just as inspiring and unpredictable as their music.

Jimi Hendrix, David Bowie, and Thom Yorke. I imagine the conversations would be just as inspiring and unpredictable as their music.
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

During my time at Berklee, my voice teacher Jan Shapiro often reminded me: “Learn to walk before you run” and “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” Those simple ideas stuck with me and taught me that patience and perseverance are just as important as talent.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

Music is a central part of my life — I live it every day. Being able to support others on their own musical journey, in a thoughtful and encouraging way, is something I genuinely value and feel grateful to do.
