About Nicole

My name is Nicole and I am a recent graduate from Berklee College of Music. I graduated with a Bachelor of Music with a focus in songwriting and voice as my primary instrument. During my time at Berklee, I took a number of production based classes including Advanced Logic Pro for Songwriters and Intro to Topline Writing, as well as studying with legendary songwriter/producer Rodney Alejandro of The Script fame. I am originally from Vancouver, Canada and I am now living and working as an independent singer/songwriter in LA. I specialize in rock and pop styles, and my philosophy is to create a welcoming and comfortable environment free of stress and anxiety for all my students. I believe the best results come from a genuine love of music and desire to learn.

About the lesson

I believe learning music should be fun, and students should be encouraged to explore their love of music organically. This is why I take a relaxed, judgement free approach to all my students. We will learn the basics of how to work your way around Logic Pro and/or GarageBand in order to record your own demos from the comfort of your own home! No studio required! We'll learn about arranging, MIDI instruments, recording audio, comping, mixing, basic vocal production, and of course the basics, like learning what equipment you need and how to get connected and set up. There can be a bit of a learning curve with DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) like Logic, but I'm here to help. And rest assured, Logic Pro and GarageBand are incredibly user friendly compared to other DAWs, and a great bang for your buck.

Note: These lessons are designed specifically for beginners wanting to learn the basics of production. I only teach Logic Pro and GarageBand, so a Mac computer is required as these applications only run on Mac. You will also be required to download Logic Pro ($200) OR GarageBand (free). We can also start with GarageBand and move to Logic Pro in the future if you choose to do so. Some instrumental proficiency is recommended, but not required.
