About Rhys
With more than 9 years of experience, I have trained students from beginner to advanced levels in flute. I teach school children, college students, and working professionals who want structured musical training. My teaching style is organised and supportive.
I focus on breath management, finger coordination, sound clarity, and rhythm precision. I explain techniques in simple steps and ensure proper understanding before moving forward. In addition to flute performance, I teach music theory, notation reading, rhythm exercises, and basic improvisation.
This helps students connect theory with practical playing. I regularly monitor progress and provide feedback for improvement. My strength lies in correcting technical mistakes patiently and building student confidence. I believe music education should be both disciplined and enjoyable, helping students grow artistically and personally.

My flute teaching methodology is rooted in Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity, ensuring that each student receives personalised and effective instruction. I begin by identifying the student’s strengths, challenges, and musical goals, then design lessons that match their pace and preferred learning style.
Technical foundations are my priority, including breath control, embouchure development, posture correction, tone stability, articulation clarity, and finger coordination. I incorporate long-tone exercises, scale practice, and rhythmic drills to build consistency and control.
As students grow more confident, I introduce expressive phrasing, dynamic variation, and musical interpretation. Flexibility allows me to adjust lesson plans based on progress and objectives, whether preparing for exams, stage performances, or recreational learning.
Collaboration encourages students to actively engage in goal setting and self-evaluation. Positivity creates a motivating and supportive environment where mistakes become learning opportunities. In addition to flute, I also teach music theory, sight-reading, rhythm training, ear development, and performance preparation skills to ensure well-rounded musicianship.
