About Elisha

I’ve been immersed in art education for most of my life, beginning in dedicated visual arts programs in middle school and continuing through high school and college. I went on to study Fine Art at The Cooper Union in New York City, where I earned my BFA and developed a strong foundation in drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, conceptual development, critique, and professional artistic practice. I am also continuing my education and am currently on the path toward completing my MFA.

Throughout my career, I’ve continued working professionally as a multidisciplinary artist, tattoo artist, designer, and community arts organizer. My work has included exhibitions, large scale installations, murals, commissioned artwork, live art activations, and creative projects with major events and organizations. I’ve also worked with younger artists through mentorship and portfolio development, helping students strengthen both their technical skills and their ability to communicate ideas through their work.

Because I’ve personally gone through competitive specialized art programs, portfolio reviews, critiques, and art school applications, I understand what it takes to build a portfolio that feels intentional, well-rounded, and personal. My goal as a teacher is to pass that experience forward by helping students improve their technique, discover new methods, develop stronger concepts, and gain the confidence to present themselves seriously as artists.

I continue to work professionally today, so my lessons combine traditional fine arts education with practical, real-world experience in the contemporary art and creative industries.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured as focused 4-hour sessions tailored to each student’s individual goals, skill level, and portfolio needs. We’ll begin by assessing your current work and technical abilities, followed by a constructive critique to identify your strengths, areas for improvement, and what we should prioritize.

From there, we’ll establish clear goals and objectives, whether you’re preparing a portfolio for art school or college applications, strengthening an existing portfolio, or simply developing your fine arts practice. Each week, I’ll adjust the curriculum based on your progress so the lessons stay personalized and purposeful.

We’ll also spend time strengthening core techniques and artistic skills while introducing new methods, materials, and approaches that can expand the way you create. Sessions may include drawing, painting, composition, observational skills, concept development, portfolio critiques, project development, presentation, and experimentation with different creative processes.

The goal is not only to help you make stronger individual pieces, but to build confidence in your technique, develop your artistic voice, and create a cohesive portfolio that represents you as an artist.
