About Alice

My passion for teaching Chinese is deeply rooted in a love for literature and the art of human communication. I believe that language is far more than a set of grammatical rules; it is a gateway to understanding diverse perspectives, philosophies, and the profound beauty of human culture.
My approach is highly structured yet deeply personal. Drawing on my extensive experience as a teaching assistant, I focus on simplifying complex linguistic concepts, helping students bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. Whether you are interested in exploring the intricacies of classical Chinese, engaging with modern literature, or simply mastering daily conversational fluency, I provide a learning environment that is both encouraging and intellectually stimulating. My goal is to equip you with the strategies needed to express yourself authentically and confidently. I am very excited to help you start this journey, and I look forward to working with you!

Each session is tailored to your goals and follows a structured flow:
1.Review & Activation: A quick recap of previous material to ensure continuous progress.
2.Guided Discovery: Introducing new concepts using real-world contexts, ensuring you understand the "why" before the "how".
3.Active Practice: Immersion-style speaking or writing exercises to build confidence in real scenarios.
4.Feedback & Consolidation: Constructive feedback to refine your skills, concluding with a plan for self-study.

My classes are designed for:
1.Beginners to advanced learners looking for a structured yet flexible approach.
2.Professionals or students aiming to achieve genuine conversational fluency.
3.Anyone interested in not only the language but also the cultural context behind it.

As a Chinese native who completed high school and university in Canada, I bridge the gap between two cultures, offering you both authentic language nuances and a deep understanding of the Western educational mindset. My personal journey of learning German and Japanese provides me with a learner’s empathy; I don't just teach the language—I teach you the strategies to master it, based on my firsthand experience with language acquisition hurdles.
