About Arianne
I am a French professor with a PhD/Doctorat (joint doctorate; "cotutelle de thèse") in French Literature and Language from the University of Colorado-Boulder and the Université d'Aix-Marseille, spent a year in Toulouse (Université de Toulouse II), and a semester in Morocco (Al-Akhawayn University). I have taught all levels of French (high school and college) for over 10 years and have published formal articles in French, so I am familiar with both regular and academic registers.
I also have experience teaching English (ESL) in France as a private tutor (2011 to 2013) and as an Assistante de langue anglaise (English Language Assistant) at the Lycée Montgrand from 2012 to 2013.

My classes emphasize speaking and culture, though reading and writing certainly play a part. Because speaking in another language is often stressful, I make it a point to be patient and encouraging, regardless of mistakes or accent. The goal of any language is to communicate first and foremost.
