About Selina
Hi! I’m a Los Angeles–based vocalist, pianist, film composer, arranger, and music director. I graduated from Berklee College of Music on scholarship, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Scoring with a focus in Electronic Production and Design, along with a minor in Conducting.
My primary teaching areas are piano and voice. With my background in film scoring, I am also comfortable teaching music theory, composition, songwriting, and arranging, helping students understand not only how to perform music but also how it is created.
I served as Music Director of the Audire Soundtrack Collective, where I led orchestral and choral performances of visual media music, and I was also President of the World Music Scoring Association, where I helped build a supportive community for emerging composers and musicians.
My artistic foundation also includes extensive classical vocal training under one of the most important Czech coloratura sopranos, Jana Jonašová, along with performance experience as a vocalist and pianist in concerts and studio environments. In 2023, I was selected as a soloist for Berklee a Les Arts: The Kiss, performing at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía opera house in Valencia, Spain.
My experience working with children began through teaching and mentoring my younger sister, who is 10 years younger than I am. This taught me the importance of patience, adaptability, and tailoring lessons to each student's learning style. I enjoy incorporating games and achievement-based activities to keep students engaged, and I have seen how positive encouragement and achievable goals can build confidence and foster a lifelong love of music. I also teach in bilingual settings, offering instruction in both English and Mandarin (中文) to support clarity, comfort, and deeper understanding.
I strive to make music feel enjoyable, accessible, and inspiring. Helping each student build strong fundamentals while discovering their own creative voice and confidence, whether they are playing their first notes or developing original compositions.
Above all, I believe music is a universal language of emotion and connection, and I am deeply committed to sharing that through every lesson.

I teach students of all ages and levels in voice, piano, music theory, composition, and film scoring. Whether you're just starting your musical journey or looking to develop advanced skills, I tailor each lesson to your goals and interests.
My teaching philosophy focuses on building strong foundations while keeping learning creative, practical, and engaging. Once the essentials become natural, students gain the freedom and confidence to express themselves artistically.
Lessons may include exercises, reading sheet music, performance preparation, music theory, and audition preparation, depending on each student’s goals.
Lessons are available in English and Mandarin (中文), online or in person in Los Angeles. I can also travel to your home for lessons, depending on location.
I also offer a complimentary 30-minute introductory class so we can get to know each other and discuss your goals, learning style, and how I can tailor lessons to your needs.
