About Ricardo

Hola! I’m Ricardo. I was born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and moved to the United States at age five. Spanish has always been part of my life — first through my parents at home, then later through years of travel and immersion in Mexico, Colombia, and Spain.

I spent half a year in Spain tutoring both English and Spanish through Workaway, helping students improve their conversation and confidence in real-life situations. That experience confirmed how much I enjoy supporting people as they grow in a new language.

My teaching style is patient, practical, and focused on real conversation so you can actually use the Spanish you learn.

I teach mainly online so we can keep learning no matter where I am, and I also offer in-person lessons in the Chicago area when I’m home.

Looking forward to meeting you!

About the lesson

My lessons are fully personalized and focused on real communication. Whether you are a complete beginner, someone who already understands a lot but freezes when speaking, or an intermediate student who wants to sound more natural, we will build your skills around your goals.

We prioritize speaking and listening from the very first class. I combine practical conversation, clear grammar explanations only when needed, vocabulary you will actually use, and real-life situations (travel, work, daily life, or cultural topics). Lessons are interactive and patient — you will never feel rushed or judged for making mistakes. I adapt the pace and materials to how you learn best, and I can include short homework or feedback between sessions if you want extra practice.

You will leave every class knowing exactly what you improved and what to practice next. Book a first lesson and let’s see how quickly you start speaking with more confidence.

I met Ricardo when he came to stay at my home through Workaway, and he helped me practise my English through conversation sessions.

Although my experience with Ricardo was as an English learner rather than a Spanish student, I believe his teaching skills and personal qualities are equally valuable when teaching any language.

What I appreciated most about his teaching style was how attentive and patient he was during our conversations. He was a great listener and knew how to correct mistakes in a natural and relaxed way, without interrupting the flow of the conversation or making me feel uncomfortable. This made it easy to feel confident, express myself freely and enjoy practising English.

I also appreciated how easy he was to talk to. He is an open-minded and approachable person with a wide range of interests, which made our conversations interesting and enjoyable.

I would definitely recommend Ricardo to anyone looking to learn or improve their language skills in a comfortable, friendly and encouraging environment.
